CITIZEN K16E-VII

NB: Preliminary Information - Subject to Change

Flexible and Cost-effective

The new Citizen K16E-VII combines modern technology and highest precision for the efficient production of turned parts up to 16mm in diameter.

7 axes, 6 turning tools, 4 rotary tools and in total 8 tools for front and back machining allows great flexibility.

Maximum cutting length is 200 mm in one chucking. However, with the optional long work piece unit, components up to 400 mm can be machined. The main spindle is driven by a 3.7 kW motor and the sub-spindle has a 0,75 kW drive. The rotary tool drive also has a 0.40 kW, AC spindle motor giving 6,000 revs/min.

Comprehensive standard equipment, space-saving design, easy operation, low running costs and high productivity - all at an extremely attractive price makes the K16E-VII a must-have for newcomers to sliding head lathes, for replacement of cam-controlled lathes or for the production of simple turned parts.

Improvements over previous generation K Series

  • Latest Mitsubishi High-speed control and 'Streamline Machining' Control software offering massive reductions in non-cutting and idle time (up to 50%) and faster cycle times (up to 20% faster).
  • Upgraded Colour LCD screen with pictures and diagrams to aid operator.
  • Polygon / Hob cutting option
  • Rigid tapping phase adjustment

Substantially reduced non-cutting time

  • Latest generation Mitsubishi high speed control with Cincom 'Streamline Machining' technology.
  • Further development of special Citizen software to overlap and superimpose axis movements
  • Special macros for overlapping of rapid approach of next tool over approach of previous tool.
  • High-speed rapid traverse (32m and 34m/min)
  • Higher axis acceleration and deceleration
  • Significant idle and non-cutting time savings over previous K Series generation.

Reduced cutting time
  • Heavy construction
  • High spindle speeds (15,000 rpm)
  • Heavier cutting (12mm shank tooling, larger ball screws, wider spaced guide ways
  • High-speed rapid traverse (32m and 34m/min)
  • Higher axis acceleration and deceleration

Higher Accuracy
  • Oil cooled spindle
  • Air cooled rotary drive
  • Large coolant capacity

Strong Specification
  • 200mm headstock stroke (with rotary guide bush)
  • Synchronous motor driven guide bush
  • 15,000rpm main spindle, 3.7kW
  • 10,000rpm sub spindle, 0.75kW
  • Built-in main spindle (higher performance at lower rpm compared with belt driven spindle) e.g. better tapping performance
  • C-axis main spindle (0.001°) / sub spindle (0.01°)

Flexible Specification

The tool layout is extremely flexible through the a wide selection of tool holders. Various configurations can give:

  • Up to 10 turning tools
  • Up to 14 end working tools
  • Up to 4 rotary cross tools (0.4kW)
  • Up to 6 rotary face tools

User-Friendly Next-Generation Mitsubishi Control

The latest generation super-fast Mitsubishi control further increases processing speed over the previous generation. CNC processing, PLC functions and Macro execution time are much improved.

The fully positionable control console enables the operator to observe the machining area and the program on the monitor at the same time. The handwheel feature provides the operator with a safe and convenient means of proving out programs prior to selecting the automatic mode. This is particularly useful to newcomers to CNC operation. Improves on the previous model by offering a clear colour display along with photos and diagrams to aid the operator.

The storage and input of program data us simplified by the Compactflash memory card slot.

Citizen's renowned ease of use, including the program prove-out handwheel, helps operators achieve fast changeovers.

NEW! Run a program from external memory card (up to 1GB program). Useful for programs generated from CAM software with a large amount of point data.

Standard Tool Layout
  • 6 turning tools (12mm)
  • 7 end working tools (front)
  • 7 end working tools (back)
  • 3 rotary cross tools (0.4kW)

Supporting Software Options

CNC Wizard Low-cost Programming Aid for Citizen machines to speed-up part-program creation. The software leads you through creation of your part-program using clear diagrams, photos and text. A simple program can be potentially be written in a matter of minutes! Full editing and communications features are built into the software along with program validation checks. Ideal for both new and experienced Citizen users.
CNC Program Editor An easy-to-use Windows-based CNC program editing system with built-in support for program transfer over RS232 and (optionally) Wireless LAN. Many support functions are included such as code templates for common processes and program validation checks.

Machine Options

Workpiece Conveyor This device removes the workpiece from the machine without any damage and is recommended for unattended operation.
Long Parts Adaptor Suitable for parts from 90mm to 400mm in length, this device enables the workpiece to be removed from the machine through the rear of the sub-spindle. A gripper unit discharges the component to avoid marking.
Swarf Conveyor
Extra Rotary Tools

Machine Axes
