The
Boley BC42-X2 is a high precision universal CNC lathe designed for efficient,
economical production of both simple and complex workpieces in small or
large batches. One hit machining of complex parts is achieved using powered
tools and a sub-spindle, together with spindle indexing a C-axis.

The
main and sub-spindles can be synchronised to facilitate alignment or angular
relationship of front and back operations.

construction of the BC, with slant design of the large, robust, vibration-free

Finished
parts are removed from the working area by the means of a workpiece slide
which is controlled by the 'M' function. This slide and the workpiece
receptacle both have a protective lining to avoid damage to the finished
part. As an option, the machine can also be fitted with a workpiece conveyor.
A
large step into the future is the newly designed turret with it's Mechatronic
technology. The main advantages are the improved operational safety and
the ultra-short indexing times.
A
one-second indexing time provides a high level of production capability.
The BC42-X2 therefore represents a revolutionary development, as a machine
concept, for the machining of the most demanding components.
All
primary and secondary drives are electromechanically powered on the BC42-X2.
The servo motors are 'intelligent' and 4communicate directly and independently
with the powerful CNC system without any delay. The Mechatronic technology
ensures a high degree of operational safety.
The
BC Mechatronic CNC control with Windows 95 and 64 bit RISC processor ensures
that all machine functions are performed and controlled in the shortest
of times. This includes the processing of extensive program blocks in
the minimum of time.
The
PC-based control is user-friendly and programming is simplified with logical
guidance for the operator.
This
innovative control concept has been developed to provide maximum adaptability
for the future. An Internet interface for external dialogue is in the
preparation phase at present. Each model is supplied with a built-in modem
to facilitate remote access for diagnostics and servicing purposes. This
can dramatically reduce downtime associated with programming errors etc.
Through the addition
of an X2 axis to the sub spindle, dramatic savings can be made in terms
of cycle time. The new X2 model enables simultaneous, independent machining
of the front and back end of the workpiece, on centre-working and turning
/ boring of inside and outside diameters. This, in effect, provides you
with the benefits of a twin turret machine with the significant cost savings
of a single turret model.
